British oblivious to care costs

British people are worryingly unaware of how much care is likely to cost them in old age with a high proportion of people unclear that the recently proposed care fee cap will not cover their accommodation fees. A survey by the Anchor Trust and the Strategic Society Centre revealed that, of the people aware of the care fee cap (47% of those surveyed) nearly half (48%) believed that the fee cap included the cost of a room in a care home and 35% believed the cost of their food and drink would also be included.
